As an Independent Thinker, you are an introverted personality type. This is one of the reasons why you prefer to work alone. It does not mean that you cannot be successful in a team, but for you, the task will always be most important, and the people involved will come second. The contact with others, the pressure to respond to people’s daily changing sensitivities and emotions - all these are unnecessary energy drains that prevent you from fully dedicating yourself to your real interests: analyzing systems and policies, researching opportunities for change, developing new ideas and putting them into practice. In this respect, you differ from the second introverted Thinker type (the Analytical Thinker): Unlike the Analytical Thinker you really enjoy implementing your concepts, and you enjoy the results. Therefore, you should seek a work environment that allows you to see your ideas through to completion.

You see difficult situations as challenges to your creativity, and you often surprise those around you with truly brilliant ideas that leave others speechless with their excellence. Your world is one of statistics, legitimacy, and system. However, for a Thinker type you are very practice-oriented and by no means live in an intellectual ivory tower. You are not interested in theories that have no relevance to reality. You excel at predicting the consequences of your methods in advance and then choosing the appropriate alternative - you look at life like one big game of chess. Once you've made up your mind about how to deal with a situation, you're ready to use your elbows and not worry about how others feel about it. As a result, you may occasionally encounter resistance from other, less task-oriented colleagues, but usually you simply brush it aside.

By nature you resent routine tasks or monotonous sequences of events. You believe they stifle your creativity. If necessary, your determination and unusual ambition will convince you to accept the inevitable.

Nevertheless, when choosing a career, you should make sure that your working environment will always offer you something new to learn and that your tasks are as varied as possible. Your strength lies in solving novel problems, not in working on details. Your curiosity should never be satisfied; fresh information is as important to you as the air you breathe. And so is the feeling that you are constantly expanding and improving your skills. A job where you do the same thing in the same department with the same colleagues for 20 years is the worst fate that can happen to a hungry mind like yours.
